And we are flying
above the clouds,
the ground so far below.

Put out your cigarettes
and fasten tight
there is so far to go.

We all sit suspended
in a cloud of static air.
All the lights are out
and everybody is asleep.

And we can travel
down by the park
Pass by the old street.

And we can hear
low-flying birds
with feathers in our ears.

There’s an old-time show
where all the lost and found go
in the main square.
We stand by and stare
at all the people moving, talking.

And I can understand
more than I speak.
Can you talk slowly?

And must it be
this cold in spring?
Where are you going?

If only you could talk
for I am a stranger in this town.
At night-time by the lake
it looks like the water is on fire.

And we are flying above the clouds.
